Our Programs

East Beaumaris Kindergarten is a nurturing place for children to enjoy 3 and 4-year-old sessional kinder programs.  It is a warm and welcoming environment where every child is valued as a unique individual, and the primary focus is the wellbeing of each child.

Our single room kindergarten, with only one program running on a single day, allows us to remain a small, close-knit community where children, families and educators develop a true sense of belonging. The 3 and 4-year-old sessional programs use a learning through play curriculum based on the National Early Years Learning Framework, and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.

Kindergarten is an important step for young children, supporting a smooth transition to primary school. Taking part in a quality kindergarten program at an earlier age boosts children’s learning, development, health and wellbeing outcomes. It has even more benefits for children who need extra support or are in vulnerable circumstances.

Learning Through Play

Young children learn about the world through play. Research shows that play-based learning is the best way to help young children learn, develop well and prepare to thrive at school.

At East Beaumaris Kindergarten, play is supported by qualified educators, who closely consider the development of the whole child and create meaningful experiences that build on the children’s interests, cultures, strengths and knowledge. The experiences set up in the kinder environment are planned from observations of the children and encourage exploration of literacy, numeracy, science and technology concepts, while also offering children the opportunity to enhance their social and emotional skills, and extend their problem-solving abilities. Children are supported to take risks, use their initiative, focus their attention and investigate their natural curiosity, while becoming self-motivated learners.

Through our play-based learning program children are supported to grow and develop into happy and active learners who contribute in meaningful ways to shape their learning journey.

Sessional Kindergarten

East Beaumaris Kindergarten runs sessional 3 and 4-year-old programs, which means children attend on set days and for set hours during the four school terms, with breaks inline with Victorian school holidays. This model allows for all children to arrive at kinder together in the morning and to end their day at the same time. Not only does this help children connect and develop a strong sense of belonging, but it also encourages families to meet and get to know one another which strengthens our kinder community.
